XCOM 2: Review

Written by: Adam "ManKorn" Korenman, CC2K Video Games Editor

War…War Never Changes

In the end, the game remains remarkably similar to past iterations. You have to find the enemy, flank them, and kill them. In your down time to research new weapons and armor, make contract with other areas to increase funding, and improve your base. That familiarity makes picking up XCOM 2 easy for old hats and newcomers alike. The upgrades and gameplay additions don’t hinder the experience. They enhance in every way.

Yes, I wish the story decisions had been handled a little smoother. Yes, I wish I could have imported data from my old saves. But above all else, I am enjoying the hell out of this new XCOM. It is tight, polished, and hard to beat. You could not ask for a better sequel to the franchise, nor a better strategy game for 2016.

XCOM 2 earns a hefty 9.0 / 10
