had everything a growing gamer needed: aliens, lasers, missile-launching arm cannon, body-morphing power armor, and a hottie in a suit.

It is still considered one of the best games of its generation, and with good reason. The variety of gameplay, and staying power of concept, make Metroid an icon of the early console years.

As far as music is concerned, Metroid stepped out of the gaming comfort zone and went with an intense, techno-driven soundtrack. The thumping single-bit theme set players up for business, letting them know that yes, there were aliens that needed murdering.
