The Morning Roundup: New Eagle Eye Pics, Billy Bob as Freddy? Halo Movie Concept Art

Written by: Big Ross, CC2K Staff Writer

ImageThis morning we have lots of news to report including changes in upcoming projects for Tom Cruise, a rumor about who might be the new Freddy Krueger, new images from Eagle Eye and Ghost Town, concept art from Halo: Fall of Reach, and more!

Looks like Tom Cruise has bowed out of Edwin A. Salt, and in one of the more unexpected casting choices to replace him, Variety is reporting that Angelina Jolie will step into the role.  Obviously this means there are going to be some changes to facilitate a female lead, not the least of which will be a new name for the film.

In more Tom Cruise news, THR is reporting that the nutcase is in talks to star in Food Fight where he would play “a snooty New York chef who is forced to cook meals at a school cafeteria.”  Yeah, that’s a smart career move.

This one is totally a rumor, and while those are more often than not debunked, this one is interesting enough that I’ll pass it along.  Joblo is reporting that while on Love Line Robert Englund was asked how he felt about the upcoming Nightmare on Elm St. remake, Englund said that “the last gossip he heard was that Billy Bob Thornton could be slipping on the sweater and burn makeup for the role.”

The Witches of Eastwick is being adapting into a television pilot for ABC.  I don’t know if that’s good or bad but there’s one more detail to give you: the script will be written by Maggie Friedman, a writer for Dawson’s Creek.

J.J. Abrams is planning a disaster film centered on an earthquake, but it will have no connection to the 1974 disaster film Earthquake that starred Charlton Heston.

We have the first look at Jake Gyllenhaal as the lead of the upcoming Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, courtesy of JustJared:

We have a new piece of concept art for a down-but-not-out Halo film, courtesy of LationReview.  Interesting sidenote:  LR promptly received a cease and desist order from Microsoft over posting this image, and is arguing it is nothing more than “fan art made by an artist in Hollywood.”  Only problem is that if this artist is employed by Microsoft and is in any way connected to production of the film, then it seems to me Microsoft has every right to C&D them, or us for that matter.  Until then, enjoy!

We’ve alos got a pic of what Jalopnik is confirming is the Corvette Centennial Design Concept and has been seen on the set of the new Transformers movie, possibly representing the vehicle mode of a new transformer.  I’m totally guessing here, but could it be Hot Rod?  Anyway, check it out!
