After the long weekend we have lots of news to report, from the Cannes Film Festival to new G.I.JOE pics and the teaser poster for the upcoming Witchblade film to the sad news of the passing of a well-known filmmaker.
In film festival news Laurent Cantet’s “The Class” (“Entre les murs”) took the top prize at Cannes.
Hey, Indy IV has found fortune and glory, raking in over $300 million worldwide in its opening weekend alone.
On a somber note, film director, actor, and producer Sydney Pollack has lost a battle with cancer. He passed away yesterday; he was 73.
Universal has launched the official website for their upcoming film Wanted starring Angelina Jolie and James McAvoy.
In tv news, Alan Ball (American Beauty) is supervising adaptation of the British prison drama Bad Girls for HBO.
Robert Downey Jr. may be trading the red and gold Iron Man suit for a red and black smoking jacket as he is a step closer to portraying Hugh Hefner in an upcoming biopic Playboy.
In other news from the Cannes Film Festival, it appears that Quentin Tarantino announced his next film will be Inglorious Bastards. Take that with a grain of salt, me thinks.
Ewan MacGregor looks to be playing a small role in the upcoming Amelia Earhart biopic starring Hillary Swank.
