The Best Voice Artists in Video Games

Troy Baker – Last Of Us

Who’s this, you ask? Who is the handsome hipster gazing back at your from your screen? Why, that’s Troy Baker, possibly the best voice actor in history (in video games).

Troy owned Bioshock: Infinite, and made us all weep openly in The Last of Us. But he’s been lending superior talent to games for far longer than you realize. He played a WWII sergeant in Brothers in Arms, a series that sadly fell by the wayside under a torrent of Medal of Honor and Call of Duty titles.

Maybe you know him as the Player’s character in the Saints Row series, or as Revolver Ocelot in Metal Gear Solid: Phantom Pains. But even if you’ve somehow missed all of his stellar work, there is one title I’m sure you’ll find equally impressive. Pick up a copy of Shadow of Mordor and enjoy a little Troy Baker as the lead, Talion.

Troy combines the gravel of Solid Snake with the smug charm of Nathan Drake (rhyme unintentional). He sells emotional quality with every line, and sucks the player into the game in a way I’ve never before experienced. He does far more than just lend his voice to a character. He brings that character to life.

Or don’t. I’m not a cop.
