4)  Barnacled, Half-Life

Half-Life may be one of the finest games ever made. It certainly has become the most hotly debated sequel in history. Almost all of that is due to high production value, incredibly fun gameplay, and a wicked-good storyline. It also is known for inventive and intelligent enemies. The one exception to the “intelligent” part would have to be the Barnacle. 

Hanging from the ceiling or from under a bridge, the barnacle is basically a Venus Human Trap, dangling its sticky tongue and just hoping you stumble along. If you are unlucky enough to get caught in its easily escapable trap, you are due for some Sarlacc-esque fun.
