Take Away the Controller: Video Game Television Series

1) Monkey Island

Everybody loves pirates. This is just a known fact. Pirates and Ninjas may be the one universal connection across the boundaries of space and time (that and mankind’s dying need to perfect the Grilled Cheese Sandwich).

With the rare exception of some notable baddies (I’m looking at you, Somalia), pirates have always been a fun and lighthearted part of our history. And there has been more than a little success in bringing them to both the big and small screens. Pirates of the Caribean, which we have to mention was BASED ON A THEME PARK RIDE, grossed billions of dollars worldwide.

The Curse of Monkey Island remains one of the funniest, best executed pirate tales ever unleashed on the gaming industry. The adventures of Guybrush Threepwood, bonafide pirate wannabe, span the worlds of the living and the dead, across various islands (some monkey themed, others not so much) and involve shenanigans the likes of which haven’t been seen since.

How has this not been made into the best TV show since Breaking Bad

Follow in the adventures of our fearless (well, more fear than less) hero as he sets out to become a pirate, defeat the evil LeChuck, and win the heart of his fair (independent and wholly uninterested) maiden.
