State of Decay: Lifeline

The Walking Dead

It should be said that, since the major updates six months ago, State of Decay has grown in leaps and bounds as an open-world game. Graphical updates make slaying zombies a much more visceral ordeal, but the additions go deeper. AI companions are smarter, attacking and assisting you in a more seamless way. You can use vehicles to store supplies, making the late game resource gathering a simpler–if no less dangerous–process.

The game itself is everything you would want from a zombie RPG. There is a real sense of freedom and anxiety as you build your base, defend your perimeter and rescue survivors. Undead Labs has staked a claim on the zombie market in their State of Decay series, and it continues to be one of my favorite games to play and replay during the release off season.

For $6.99 on XBOX or Steam, this is simply a must-have.
