Talion is a Ranger, AKA one of Middle Earth’s bad ass wanderers. Before his untimely end, Talion spent his days sauntering around the wilderness ignoring anything less epic than a mountain troll. One day, during an unusual respite from his murdering, Talion and his entire family are set upon by Orcs from the Dark Lands. Talion watches his family die, most likely as he is buried underneath an avalanche of his slain foes.

But even a foe such as Death is little match for Talion. Resurrected by a Wraith, and merged with its terrifying energy, Talion sets out on a mission of vengeance. It is such an amazingly better idea than any of Tolkien’s books that is shatters dimensions in the telling.
