Writer Wes Locher is back with more free comics. This time he takes on the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

If you haven’t been following Wes Locher, he’s been writing free comic shorts this year based on licensed properties he grew up enjoying, and that have been a big influence on his career as a storyteller. These comics are unofficial, meaning he and his respective creative team don’t make money from them. It’s all for sheer fun!

CC2K has the pleasure of covering these shorts. In fact, we already wrote about Battletoads: Turbo Tunnel Trouble, so check it out if you’re interested.

This month’s free comic is on the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, a franchise that has meant a lot to Locher, artist Ed Jimenez, and colorist Kote Carvajal. It’s nostalgic for me too, having frequently watched the cartoon and the three subsequent films in the 90s. I even snuck into my brother’s room to play with his Ninja Turtle action figures, pitting them against Transformers, LEGOs, and Barbies because why not? Who doesn’t love Leonardo, Donatello, Raphael, and Michelangelo?

Locher and Jimenez, the creators behind Unit 44, have teamed up again with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Blood in the Water. It’s 8-pages long and opens up with Raph being his rebellious self, looking to pick a fight all by his lonesome. For such a short comic, it packs plenty of comedy and heart, and the art is awesome.

Locher and the team are aware the turtles are in an official licensed comic book right now, but they wanted to provide their own take to the iconic foursome. They hope you enjoy it!
