Follow the Creed

France is Darn Pretty

Have you ever been to France? I haven’t, but it is damn pretty. One of my favorite elements when playing an Assassin’s Creed title is exploring the lovingly restored world. Ubisoft’s team takes pride in recreating the most realized version of their settings as possible, conducting dozens of scouting trips and thosuands of hours of research. First it was ancient Israel, then the canals of Venice, then Constantinople. When Boston arrived, it was actually a disappointment. How do you compare pioneer towns to the lush and epic sprawls of the ancient world?

Now we’ll get a chance to see the endlessly changing architecture of eighteenth-century France. From Roman to Gothic, from Medeival to Reinessance, from Baroque to Neoclassicism. All of the most famous buildings in the country brought to life as they haven’t been in hundreds of years.

And let’s not forget the fashion. Ubisoft is famous for getting the look of the citizens to be as accurate as the city streets. There is a reason that people say fashion starts in France, and I’m definitely psyched to see the new direction for the series.
