Best Story
The original Bioshock was a legend. It changed the way most people–not just gamers, but other “normals” as well–looked at games. The story, the setting, the graphics, all were revolutionary for the time. Nowadays, most people expect some sort of twist ending to a story, but no one does it better than the team at 2K.
Set in the floating city of Columbia, Bioshock: Infinite weaves an incredible and detailed story of desparation, tyranny, and runaway science. Every beat is punctuated with action, and not always in the form of a firefight. Some of the most gripping moments come during tense “set-piece” events, where you are mostly along for the ride.
The ending is, of course, part of the draw for this game, and I won’t spoil anything here. Ken Levine has done a service to the gaming community by taking such big risks with this title, and the results are fantastic. Bioshock has won Game of the Year honors from other websites and magazines, and well deserved at that. If more games follow this example, the industry will dominate mass media for years to come.
