Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare

How Far is Too Far
When it comes to games set in the future, technology becomes the buzzword. More power, more toys, more glowing blue screens.
It’s not the future unless EVERYTHING is fucking blue
But how do you know when you’ve jumped the shark?
Do you go the route of Crysis and start handing out the tech bow from Turok? Or do you play it safe, like Titanfall, and keep weaponry rooted in the laws of thermodynamics? Are we going to have standard-issue laser rifles? Plasma grenades? The robot-arm-mounted machinegun from Aliens?
HOOORAH!
Black Ops II had mechs and unmanned drones, so there is already the precedent for some pretty out-there tech, but even in the trailer we’re seeing some incredibly inventive ideas. From the bizarre exo-suits to the reliance on UAVs, everything feels grounded in some manner of reality. But how can you call it “Advanced Warfare” if they don’t step out into some uncharted territory?
How about some microwave cannons, which already exists. Or man-portable rail guns? I know it’s too much to hope for, but how about some laser swords?
“Way to die on the job, d**k sh**ter.” – Greatest line of dialogue in any video game ever
I guess what I’m saying is that, in the next trailer, we should get an idea of how far in the future this particular game plans to take us. And we should all hope the designers are aiming for some pretty out-there tech.
