Album Review :: Restorations :: LP2

Restorations :: LP2 is out now on SideOneDummy
From the first chord of LP2 you are transported to a different time and place. The intro establishes this record into your life. This album connected with me immediately. I cannot article why, but it got deep inside me and took hold, and it is amazing. This is an album that means something. An album that some kid will take to heart and it will change his life, maybe even save it.
LP2 has an intensity and passion simmering throughout the entire record. Each instrument punctuates every note and the vocals are scratchy, strained, and honest. The tracks are beautifully melancholy as they drip with emotion and nuance.
There is something timeless about its sound, as if it has always been around and has already endured. Perhaps that feeling comes from its eclectic sound. There are clear influences of The Psychedelic Furs, Nine Inch Nails, Hot Water Music, Tool, Avail, and a dash of Flipper that all contribute to this unique and alluring sound. Or perhaps it is something more, something deeper, an element of je ne sais quoi that happens when all the elements of inspiration, people, music, lyrics, vocals, band, and audience come together to experience something.
I cannot pick a favorite track on this record, it is something that you need to listen to and experience in its entirety.
Also, if you haven’t read my gushing about their A/B EP, read it here, that recording is seriously amazing too.
