Galactic Cannibal :: We’re Fucked
Okay, so we’ve been here before. Galatic Cannibal is fucking awesome. Like really fucking awesome. We’re Fucked is an old school hardcore thrashy punk record that grabs you from the start. There is no warm up, there is no intro, it just fucking accosts you and doesn’t let you go until it has its way with you.
This reminds me of the punk rock that made me fall in love with punk rock. Kid Dynamite with a dash of Dag Nasty and Lifetime, yet rawer. We’re Fucked is a record that captures the raw energy that makes punk rock, punk rock. It is exciting and raw. There is an intensity and passion that grab you through the guttural screaming vocals and the killer music. And in keeping with punk rock tradition, or maybe it is punk rock cliché, only one song breaks the 3 minute mark. We’re Fucked makes you want to dance and wish you were at a show in the middle of a sweaty smelly pit.
I can’t pick out a favorite track on this one; it depends on what day you are talking to me, but often it is Hate Everything More or We’re Fucked which have the slightest hooks buried far enough that no one would dare call them catchy, yet are able to make you try to sing along before you know the words.
This is the type of record that makes me excited about music. I could listen to it over and over again, and well, I have. Easily one of my top 5 albums of the year.
