Banner Pilot :: Souvenir :: Fat Wreck Chords

Okay, so I will admit it, I am not super familiar with Banner Pilot. They came out in a time where punk rock and I were kind of estranged (me and most things were estranged during those years). So from 2004 to 2009 new punk rock totally passed me by. So I am listening to Banner Pilot like they are a totally new band, because hell, they are to me.

So point one in favor of me loving this record is that Fat released it, still after all these years, I am psyched on or at least dig 80% of Fat’s releases. I will always be a sucker for legit gritty pop punk, always. So these guys are snotty pop punk with just enough grit to lose most of the pop. The music is thrashy and the hooks will stay in your head for days. I can’t pick a favorite track, every song on Souvenir is hooky yet never quite catchy and will put you in a great fucking mood. I have not felt energy like this off of an album in quite awhile. Like it or not, this album will change your energy level, it is totally infectious.

Is this what the rest of their stuff sounds like? I should probably go check it out.
