3) State of Decay: Breakdown ($9.99)

The original State of Decay was one of my favorite zombie titles this year. While not as polished as a Left For Dead, this Xbox Live download gave me hours of fun and excitement. Again, the use of permadeath really sells the tension, and the RPG elements and base-building mechanics bring this game to a new level.

The DLC Breakdown is set to introduce new challenges, larger hordes, and an ever increasing difficulty. It becomes less a game about rebuilding, tasking you with surviving as long as you can. Even death can be exciting, as it teaches you what not to do next time.
